Eben Etzebeth is yet to recover from a head injury and will be unavailable for the Springboks' final Test of the season against Wales.
The Bok lock was concussed in the Test against England at Twickenham two weeks ago. He was subsequently ruled out of the match against Italy in Florence, which the Boks lost.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the Bok enforcer would miss the clash with Wales in Cardiff on Saturday. Allister Coetzee told reporters in Cardiff that Etzebeth didn’t pass his protocols on Sunday.
'If he passed the five-day return-to-play protocol [on Monday], he would only be ready to take contact on Saturday‚ so that makes it highly unlikely,' the Bok coach said.
No replacement has been called up for what will be final game of the Boks' four-match tour, and of their 2016 season. One would expect Pieter-Steph du Toit and Lood de Jager to continue in the second row this coming weekend, and Franco Mostert to play off the bench.
