Easter Festivals: Boishaai prevail in the mud

Paarl Boys’ High came from behind to beat Helpmekaar at St John’s College as wet and rainy conditions affected the second day of all four of the Easter schools festivals on Saturday.

In the final match of the day at the St John’s Festival, Helpmekaar took a 16-8 lead at half time, but Boishaai scored 24 unanswered points in the second half to win 32-16.

The big game at KES saw the hosts face a Dale College side playing their first game of the festival in the wake of the tragic passing of two teammates. While Dale fought bravely, KES were able to come away with a 32-3 win.

At St Stithians, Bishops outplayed Martizburg in a 31-10 victory, as the rugby fixtures were all rescheduled for Saturday morning in anticipation of the wet weather.

Kearsney College in Durban also experienced rainy conditions, but that did not stop some exciting rugby from being played, the highlight of which was Glenwood’s nail-biting 15-14 win against Selborne.
