Springbok flank Pieter-Steph du Toit could reportedly make a return to South Africa from Japan months before next year’s Rugby World Cup.
Du Toit is currently playing for Toyota Verblitz in Japan’s Rugby League One, where he will play on a 12-month contract.
The 29-year-old’s contract with Verblitz expires in May 2023, three months before the World Cup gets underway on 8 September 2023.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, an informed source said Du Toit could come back to South Africa after May next year.
This could come in the form of a return to the Stormers, who are closest to the Du Toit family farm, but the Sharks and Vodacom Bulls would, of course, also be interested in his services.
However, the source said that Du Toit is in no rush to decide his future and will only start speaking to third parties once he completes his first season with Verblitz.
