Pieter-Steph du Toit has been ruled out of Saturday's battle with the Reds due to a knee injury.
The Springbok and Sharks No 5 was named in the starting side on Thursday morning. However, a subsequent accident on the training pitch has led to a knee injury that will sideline Du Toit for at least one game.
The Sharks are still waiting on the results of Du Toit's scans, and at this point the severity of the injury is not yet known.
Stephan Lewes will replace Du Toit for Saturday's game against the Reds, while Sharks director of rugby Jake White is yet to name a new player who will take Lewies's spot on the bench.
