Legendary Springbok prop Os du Randt will reportedly join the Russia Test team as scrum coach.
Du Randt has reportedly been recruited by fellow South African Dick Muir, who was recently appointed as Russia’s head coach.
Du Randt will become the third South African involved in a Russian national rugby team following Muir, the former Springbok assistant coach and Sharks coach, and Blitzbok great Vuyo Zangqa, who was in mid-December named as the Russia Sevens head coach.
The 49-year-old Du Randt, who is a two-time World Cup winner – in 1995 and 2007 – played 80 Tests for the Springboks between 1994 and 2007 before his retirement.
He previously worked as Cheetahs scrum coach and also served as scrummaging consultant to the Springboks under coach Peter de Villiers throughout 2010 and in the lead-up to 2011 Rugby World Cup.
