Double blow for Cheetahs

Cheetahs centres William Small-Smith and Joubert Engelbrecht are set for lengthy spells on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on Wednesday.

According to SuperSport.com, both players went under the knife, with Small-Smith having recently sustained a foot injury against the Lions, while Engelbrecht tore a pectoral muscle. They are only expected to return to action after the June Test window.

'We always knew we would get injuries, and that is part of the game,' coach Franco Smith told the website. 'It is all part of the process of growing this squad and it gives opportunities to other players.'

The Cheetahs are set to face the Bulls this Saturday.
