Daly to start against Boks

Centre Elliot Daly will start his first Test for England against the Springboks at Twickenham this Saturday.

As expected, Eddie Jones has named Daly at outside centre in a new-look midfield alongside Owen Farrell, with Jonathan Joseph dropping to the bench.

Daly has made five appearances from the bench since Jones handed him his debut in the Six Nations in February, but has now been rewarded for his impressive form for club side Wasps.

'Elliot has been there or thereabouts for the past five or six Tests,' Jones commented. 'He gives us a left-foot option out wide, is a strong runner and a great defender, so he gets his opportunity.'

Joseph has also been battling with a groin injury this week, but he has been deemed fit enough to take up his place among the substitutes.

In other injury-enforced changes to the England side that last played the Wallabies in June, Jonny May and Marland Yarde will start on the wings in place of Anthony Watson (jaw) and Jack Nowell (quad).

There are also three changes to the pack, with Tom Wood coming in at openside flank in place of James Haskell (toe), while Joe Launchbury and Courtney Lawes return to the second row in the absence of injured George Kruis and Maro Itoje.

England – 15 Mike Brown, 14 Marland Yarde, 13 Elliot Daly, 12 Owen Farrell, 11 Jonny May, 10 George Ford, 9 Ben Youngs, 8 Billy Vunipola, 7 Tom Wood, 6 Chris Robshaw, 5 Courtney Lawes, 4 Joe Launchbury, 3 Dan Cole, 2 Dylan Hartley (c), 1 Mako Vunipola.
