Coming off a loss against the Sharks on Sunday, the Cheetahs came into this game desperate to bounce back. They looked to have gotten off to the ideal start when centre David Brits crossed for a try after only three minutes.
A late surge in the first half, however, saw Griquas roar back into the match courtesy of tries by Chris Hollis, James Verity-Amm and Hanru Sirgel.
After an explosive first half, the second half was a decidedly more subdued affair. That is until the final quarter when the Cheetahs suddenly hit their straps and two quickfire tries from replacement tighthead prop Conrad van Vuuren and flanker Junior Pokomela, both converted by Ruan Pienaar, handed the Cheetahs a slender victory.
