Cardiff boss Dai Young says the Stormers are playing on “a different level” to the rest of the teams competing in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.
Young was speaking after the Stormers thrashed his side 40-3 at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, the hosts running in six tries for a bonus-point win.
In sweltering conditions, the Stormers came with a plan to run the visitors off their feet, and the Welsh outfit wilted in the face of the onslaught.
“Obviously, the weather was a factor which we’re not used to but the Stormers team were more of a factor,” Young told the club’s website. “Sometimes you have to put your hand up, take on the chin and be honest, and I thought they were a different level to us.
“Their physicality, their power and pace, was too much for us and we haven’t come across too many teams who have played like that and we struggled to cope.”
Young added: “You don’t get many opportunities in South Africa and if you get one, you have to take it. We let that slip but we just weren’t at the same level as the Stormers.
“What we are taking is knowing we have a lot of work to do if we want to compete with the likes of the Stormers.”
? “What we are taking is knowing we have a lot of work to do if we want to compete with the likes of the Stormers. We’ll be honest but we won’t beat ourselves up. We now concentrate on Glasgow, which is now the most important game."
