The Hurricanes beat the Waratahs in Sydney despite enjoying less possession and territory, according to SARugbymag.co.za's Opta-powered statistics.
The Canes had 73% of the ball in the first quarter, during which time they scored 11 unanswered points, but they would finish the match with just 46% of the possession. The Waratahs also ended up with 54% of the territory.
However, the visitors used what ball they had to greater effect than the hosts.
The Hurricanes scored three tries to two, made 441 running metres to 324 and six clean breaks to three. They also kicked from hand more than the Brumbies (30 to 21) with flyhalf Beauden Barrett's 19 kicks taking him to 144 for the season, more than any other player.
The Canes also won the lineout battle, stealing three of the Tahs' throws while securing all 11 of theirs.
