The Blue Bulls, Free State, Eastern Province and Valke are the only unbeaten teams at the U16 Grant Khomo Week after day two in Kimberley.

Braces by the Blue Bulls’ Bjorn van Wyk and Lincoln Adams powered their team to a 28-18 victory against Border. Both teams crossed the tryline once in the first half, but three second-half tries by the Bulls sealed the victory.

Boland led 17-10 against Free State, but the Bloemfontein outfit fought back to secure an impressive 50-22 victory and the biggest score of the day. The Free Staters outscored their opponents by seven tries to three.

Three penalty goals by the Valke proved to be crucial in their 31-24 victory against the Griffons as both teams scored four tries, while Eastern Province also continued their winning ways with a 24-14 win against the Pumas. EP’s Brandon Wilkie scored a try, three conversions and a penalty goal for a 14-point haul.

Western Province bounced back from their defeat to Border on Monday to beat the Golden Lions 38-12, scoring five tries to two. WP centre Ethan James contributed 18 points via a try, five conversions and a penalty goal.

A hat-trick by Divan van Vreden and a fine kicking display by Schano van Rooi steered Namibia to a 42-6 victory against Border CD, while Griquas cruised to a 38-12 win against Zimbabwe. Muller du Plessis scored two of Griquas’ six tries, while Zimbabwe’s two were compliments of Gaza Kagande.

SWD beat the Sharks 22-12 after the teams had been locked at 5-5 at half-time, with the Leopards outlasting Limpopo 17-10.

The U13 Craven Week teams will return to the field at Hoërskool Diamantveld on Thursday for their third round of matches, while their U16 counterparts have a break to prepare for the final round of both festivals on Friday.
