The Vodacom Bulls will be without Kurt-Lee Arendse for the crucial match against Glasgow Warriors in Pretoria on Friday night after the star fullback picked up an injury.
Arendse has been ruled out of Friday night’s match due to a thumb injury which has put him in doubt for the Vodacom United Rugby Championship playoffs, should the Bulls finish in the top eight.
The former Blitzbok player has been sidelined with a fractured thumb, which White confirmed on Thursday could keep him out for between four and six weeks.
White has made a surprise call to shift 19-year-old wing Canan Moodie to fullback in Arendse’s place in the team to take on Glasgow.
Even more surprising is that James Verity-Amm, who is more of a specialist fullback, will start on the right wing on Friday.
The Bulls will also have a changed halfback pairing where Zak Burger will combine with the experienced Morne Steyn.
Hardman Arno Botha returns to the starting XV wearing No 7 jersey.
On a strong bench, Harold Vorster will return to action after missing last weekend’s game against Benetton, while Cyle Brink will be providing loose-forward cover.
“We have a tough task ahead of us this Friday,” said White.
“Despite their defeat to the Stormers last week, Glasgow Warriors are a formidable side that we expect will bring a huge challenge for us. They are a well-coached group with a number of highly talented internationals in their squad.
“We will need to be alert and be at our best for the entire 80 minutes.”
