The Sharks will have to release Curwin Bosch to the Junior Springboks if he is selected by coach Chean Roux.

The 19-year-old has been a standout performer in the early rounds of Super Rugby, and in the absence of Pat Lambie is fast becoming the Sharks' primary playmaker.

Although he has quickly become an integral member of their backline, the fact remains that a national side such as the Junior Springboks has every right to call up a player as they see fit. It is a policy that all of the provincial unions are aware of.

Bosch looks set to be included in the Junior Boks squad for the U20 World Championship in Georgia from 31 May to 18 June. However, the policy has allowed Bosch to skip the first two training camps – including one currently on the go in Bloemfontein – as a courtesy to the Sharks. The same applies to the other Super Rugby franchises who have players in the Junior Bok training squad.

In addition, Super Rugby players such as Bosch are only expected to join the Junior Springbok training squad for the final week of their third camp, which runs from 18 April to 12 May. They then have to be available again for the U20 Championship holding camp in Stellenbosch from 21 to 25 May, with the team set to depart on 25 May.

The Sharks' only game after that is against the Stormers on 27 May, with Super Rugby then set to break for the June international series.

Allister Coetzee, though, may yet select the youngster in the Bok squad for the three-Test series against France in June. Bosch has been invited to attended the Boks' training camp in Stellenbosch from 2-4 April.
