Jacques Nienaber says the Springboks are on guard to avoid being “strangled” by a France outfit that will go into Saturday’s Test on an 11-game unbeaten run.
France go into the match in Marseille having last lost a Test in the final game of their series against the Wallabies in July 2021.

Since then, France ended a 14-match losing streak against New Zealand with a memorable win in Paris last November, before claiming the Six Nations Grand Slam earlier this year.
Fabien Galthie’s side claimed a hard-fought win over the Wallabies on home soil last weekend and Bok coach Nienaber is wary of falling into the same trap that Les Bleus have set for their previous opponents.
“What the French do is that they suffocate and strangle you. They apply as much pressure on you with their kicking game,” Nienaber told reporters in France.
“You struggle to get out of your half and if you run, they have a very good defensive system that’s organised.

“They build pressure, they grind games out. It may be tough to comment on their mental fortitude because I’ve coached only once against them.
“We won that Test in the 83rd minute and the Test they lost was the one against Australia where they came out of quarantine.
“In terms of what I’ve seen in their last 11 games, they don’t get rattled.”
