Boks to host All Blacks in Nelspruit

The Springboks face the haka The Boks face the All Blacks Haka
Published on February 4, 2020

The Springboks will play their home Tests in the 2020 season at six different venues across five provinces.

SA Rugby confirmed on Tuesday that the Springboks’ 2020 itinerary will have them travelling to the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

The three mid-year Tests in the Incoming Series against Scotland and Georgia will be hosted on the coast, while all three Rugby Championship matches – against New Zealand, Australia and Argentina – will take place up north.

In what will be a final international at the oldest Test venue in the southern hemisphere, the Springboks will bid farewell to Newlands in Cape Town when they host Scotland on 4 July.

The second in the two-match series against the Scots will be played at Kings Park in Durban on 11 July.

That is followed by a historic first home Test for the Springboks against Georgia, at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Mandela Day.

The Springboks will start the defence of their Rugby Championship title with a match against Argentina at Ellis Park on 8 August.

The away match against the Pumas on 15 August is then followed by a visit to Australasia for the away fixtures against the Wallabies (29 August) and All Blacks (5 September) before the Boks return to South Africa for two home fixtures to complete their 2020 campaign.

Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria will host the Springboks’ clash with the Wallabies on 19 September, where the Australians have yet to register a win, followed a week later by the highly anticipated Test against the All Blacks at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, on 26 September.

Springboks’ home fixtures:

vs Scotland, 4 July (Newlands, Cape Town)
vs Scotland, 11 July (Kings Park, Durban)
vs Georgia, 18 July (Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth)
vs Argentina, 8 August (Ellis Park, Johannesburg)
vs Australia, 19 September (Loftus, Pretoria)
vs New Zealand, 26 September (Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit)
