Jake White has reshuffled the Vodacom Bulls to front up against Cardiff Rugby in round three of the United Rugby Championship on Saturday.
The Bulls director of rugby opted to make full use of the team’s rotation system for the match to be played at Cardiff Arms Park, with five changes to the backline and four new faces in the pack that was on duty in last week’s loss against Connacht.
Fullback David Kriel, wingers Madosh Tambwe and Kurt-Lee Arendse return to the starting XV, while scrumhalf Embrose Papier has been promoted from the bench.
Cornal Hendricks will shift from wing to outside centre in a midfield combination with Harold Vorster.
Bok veteran Bismarck du Plessis makes his second start for the Bulls in a new-look front row with props Simphiwe Matanzima and Jacques van Rooyen while lock Janko Swanepoel slots into the second row and flanker Jacques du Plessis packs down on the blindside of the scrum.
Commenting on his selections, White said: “We are making some changes to our match-day squad this week to ensure that we utilise our squad depth while giving fair opportunity to the players to get a feel of this competitive tournament.
“Cardiff has shown good form so far this season in their win over Connacht at home, and – despite the narrow defeat – last week in the Welsh derby against Ospreys. We expect them to come out guns blazing, and we have no doubt that they will be a tough side to face,” added White.
