The Springboks are set to overtake the All Blacks and move back to the top of the World Rugby rankings when the updated list is released on Monday.

The promotion up the rankings comes after South Africa’s riveting 31-29 win over New Zealand in Gold Coast on Saturday to bring an end to the Rugby Championship with a classic clash.

The result was worth a 0.86 rating point increase for the Boks, taking them from 90.27 to 91.13, while New Zealand is deducted 0.86, dropping them to 90.97 points and second position.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies strengthened their position in third place with a 0.84 point increase after beating Argentina to make it four wins in a row.

Los Pumas stay in eighth place but lose 0.84 of a point, meaning the gap between them and ninth-place Wales shrinks to just 0.1.
