The Springboks will kick off their outgoing tour against Ireland in Dublin on 5 November, the IRFU have confirmed.
South Africa are set to play at the Aviva Stadium for the first time in five years in the first meeting between these two nations since Ireland beat the Springboks 38-3 in 2017 – said to be the Test match that convinced Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber to return to South Africa and take charge of the national setup.
The match is scheduled to take place 10 months before these two teams face off in St Denis on 23 September at the 2023 World Cup, both having been drawn in Pool B.
The Springboks will also face World Cup hosts and Six Nations champions France, and 2019 World Cup runners-up England during the outgoing tour in November.
Prior to the outgoing tour, the world champions will host Wales in a three-Test series in July, before taking on the All Blacks in two Tests on home soil as part of the Rugby Championship, which will run from 6 August to 24 September.
