The Springboks rank among rugby’s three worst teams in terms of yellow and red cards, while Ireland and France are the best-disciplined sides according to the stats.
According to The Times and the Sunday Times, the Springboks have received 10 yellow cards and two red cards in 2022.

This comes after Pieter-Steph du Toit received his marching orders in the loss to France in Marseille, in the same match that Deon Fourie was sent to the sin bin.

The statistic puts the Boks second in a list compiling the number of cards received by tier-one nations, with Australia’s Wallabies leading the count (12 yellows and one red).
New Zealand are third on the list with eight yellow cards and two red cards, while fellow Sanzaar nation Argentina are fourth with nine yellows and no reds.
The two top-ranked nations in the world, Ireland and France, also happen to have received the least number of cards.
Ireland have only had two players sent to the sin bin, while Antoine Dupont became the first France player to be shown a card in 2022 when he was sent off against the Boks.
