Seven-Test-capped Springbok prop Marcel van der Merwe is one of 11 off-season exits from English Premiership side London Irish.
Van der Merwe, who also played for the Vodacom Bulls, Free State Cheetahs and French giants Toulon, was on Monday confirmed to be parting ways with the Brentford-based club.
He will join Albert Tuisue, George Nott, Terrence Hepetema, Sean O’Brien, Steve Mafi, Rory Brand, Cillian Redmond and Phil Cokanasiga in leaving Brentford Community Stadium at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
The Exiles also confirmed the departure of 72-time-capped Wallabies scrumhalf Nick Phipps and 34-time-capped Scotland prop Allan Dell.
Atop that list, players who also joined the club this season on short-term injury cover, Olly Cracknell, Noel Reid, Jamie Dever, Tadgh McElroy and Alandre van Rooyen, will also leave.
