Springbok wings Sbu Nkosi and Canan Moodie, as well as star hooker Johan Grobbelaar, were notable absentees when the Vodacom Bulls announced their squad to tour Scotland, Ireland and Italy.
Nkosi and Moodie were both substituted after knocks during the Bulls’ 28-14 victory over Connacht in the third round of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.
Moodie went off in the 24th minute and was replaced by Lionel Mapoe, while Nkosi was substituted in the 69th minute after appearing to take a knock to his head.
Grobbelaar was also taken off in the 24th minute. He was replaced by Jan-Hendrik Wessels, who could now have an opportunity to fire in the starting lineup.
The Bulls are set to provide further information about the injury-enforced absentees.
On a positive note, influential inside centre Harold Vorster is back in the squad after recovering from injury and could play his first URC match of the season.
Young backs Wandisile Simelane and Stedman Gans have also been included, as has veteran Bismarck du Plessis and 23-year-old hooker Joe van Zyl.
The Bulls open their tour against Glasgow Warriors, before travelling to Ireland to take on Munster and finishing in Italy against Benetton.
