The Cheetahs will reportedly depart for Europe on Sunday for two matches in the Challenge Cup without their Springbok stars.
According to Netwerk24, veteran playmaker Frans Steyn reinjured his hamstring at training and has been withdrawn from a 28-man touring squad to face the Scarlets on Friday, 13 January in Wales, and Pau in Italy on Sunday, 22 January.

It is understood that fellow Bok and loose forward Oupa Mohoje, who was selected for the trip despite a recent suspension, suffered a similar injury.
They have reportedly been replaced by Cohen Jasper and Roelof Smit, respectively.
It is believed that Ruan Pienaar (knee) will be assessed on Saturday before a decision is made on the 38-year-old scrumhalf’s fitness, with Branden de Kock on standby.
