Siviwe Soyizwapi scored a hat-trick as the Springbok Sevens team progressed to the semi-finals of the Vancouver Sevens after beating Canada 36-7.
The Blitzboks needed to be clinical and precise against the inspired hosts and they were. Canada couldn’t match the Blitzboks’ flawless execution on attack and determined defence.
Rosco Speckman, who has been a revelation in recent weeks, again played his part in the Blitzboks’ story, scoring a try in the first minute. Soyizwapi was next to score when he executed a lethal left-foot step for a 12-0 lead.

Justin Douglas, who was beaten on the outside in the lead-up to South Africa’s opening score, made amends with a try of his own to reduce the deficit, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.
Chris Dry crossed the line as the Blitzboks led by 10 at the break.
Cecil Afrika added to Canada’s misery early in the second half. Branco du Preez made the initial break and found a support-runner in Afrika, who audaciously sped between two Canadian defenders to the tryline.
Soyizwapi then proved he is a capable replacement for Seabela Senatla with two late tries to complete his hat-trick.
The Blitzboks will face the USA in the first semi-final at 00:06 (SA time).
