The Blitzboks outscored Canada five tries to one for a classy win in their first Pool A clash at the Singapore Sevens on Saturday.
With the score 12-5 at half time, Darren Adonis went over for the first try post-break after good support play, before Selvyn Davids sneaked another.
Another late try for JC Pretorius, while Lubabalo Dobela got his first run in a Blitzbok jersey off the bench, sealed a 31-5 victory for Neil Powell’s men.
Canada’s David Richard went all the way to score the opener after SA lost possession, following a not-so clinical penalty play.
From the restart and a hazy run by Davids, Ronald Brown’s kick-pass set up Pretorius for a try to level the score at 5-5, followed by another Brown cross-field kick to put skipper Siviwe Soyizwapi over for a converted second and the lead.
South Africa next face Kenya at 9:40am.
That’s 35 wins in a row – and counting – for the imperious @Blitzboks
