The unbeaten Blitzboks repelled a fired-up Great Britain side on Saturday night to advance to the Cape Town Sevens semi-final against Samoa.
A late try from Dalvon Blood gave the Blitzboks the edge as they beat Great Britain 21-14.
The game was scoreless until five minutes into the first half, when Ryan Oosthuizen produced a stunning step to go over for the score, breaking the deadlock to hand the Blitzboks the lead.
Determined to stay in the contest, Great Britain’s Morgan Williams displayed a textbook step of his own, carving open the last line of Blitzboks defence to make it 7-7 heading into the break.
Ricardo Duarttee was first to score in the second half, regaining the lead for the Blitzboks, before Great Britain’s Femi Sofolarin scored in the corner to make it 14-14.
