Blacks fired, then faded

The All Blacks were in fine attacking form in the match against Argentina in Buenos Aires, according to SARugbymag.co.za’s Opta-powered stats.

The Pumas kept the visitors in check for 26 minutes. At that point, the scoreboard read 3-0 in favour of the All Blacks.

In the period before half-time, however, the All Blacks scored four tries.

New Zealand beat 11 defenders in the first half. What was particularly impressive about their performance was their ability to keep the ball alive in contact. They finished the first stanza having made 11 offloads.

Argentina fought back in the second half to limit the All Blacks to one try. The visitors conceded two yellow cards during this period, and 11 penalties overall.
