Veteran hooker Bismarck du Plessis says the Springboks must resist the urge to “fight fire with fire” when they line up against Argentina in Buenos Aires next week.
In the most competitive Rugby Championship yet, the Springboks are tied with Argentina and Australia as all three teams have picked up nine log points from the four rounds played so far.

Having claimed a historic win over the Wallabies in Australia, the Springboks have travelled to Argentina for their next assignment against Los Pumas in Buenos Aires.
Michael Cheika’s Argentina showed the power of their pack and defence when they beat the All Blacks in Christchurch, but World Cup-winner Du Plessis told Sport24 the Boks should not be intimidated by that fact.
“There’s probably a temptation to give some thought to how the Argentinians might fight fire with fire and how their passion can put you on the back foot,” the Vodacom Bulls player said.
“But I personally never worried too much about that when I went with the team there. I know it sounds simplistic, but it’s really just a case of focusing on doing what you do well.
“And there’s only one reason for that: what we’ve done before is what really works. We’ve seen it in the past results.”
