After garnering nearly three-quarters of the vote in his battle with Duane Vermeulen, Lukhanyo Am will face another Springbok teammate to keep the title for Best Try Assist.
Am won 72% of the vote against Vermeulen in last week’s duel. Now he faces a fellow Springbok back in Dillyn Leyds, whose offload against the Chiefs is the stuff of legend.
Best Try Assist: Am or Vermeulen?
Playing for the Stormers in a Super Rugby match against the Chiefs in 2017, Leyds pulled off a magnificent pass to set fullback SP Marais on his way to the tryline. With the Stormers 27-21 ahead in the second half, Cheslin Kolbe intercepted a pass and toed the ball. Leyds was quickest to gather the ball, but brought down by an ankle tap. However, he still managed to get the pass off to Marais from the ground in a moment of magic.

In the 101st clash between the Springboks and All Blacks, held in Gold Coast in Australia, South Africa came from behind to claim a memorable 31-29 victory through a penalty after the full-time hooter. The Springboks got off to an electric start in the first half, as inside centre Damian de Allende scored the opening try in the fifth minute of the match. After forcing the All Blacks to fumble the ball inside their own 22, Lukhanyo Am pounced and produced a spectacular behind-the-back pass that led to a try for De Allende.
