Bath are reportedly set to follow up the signing of Scotland star Finn Russell with a member of the Springboks’ 2019 World Cup-winning pack.
According to the Telegraph, Bath coach Johann van Graan is set to make Russell among the highest-paid players in Premiership history by signing the Scot on a deal worth £1m (R21m) a year.

Russell with be a marquee player for Bath, so his wages will be outside the Premiership’s salary cap. Bath are also reportedly closing in on signing Springbok tighthead prop Thomas du Toit.
The 27-year-old was appointed as Sharks captain under former head coach Sean Everitt, but relinquished the responsibilities to Siya Kolisi when Neil Powell took over.
Du Toit has spent most of his professional career in Durban, where he started out in 2014, only taking a brief three-month stint with Munster in 2016.
The 2019 World Cup winner will be part of a squad overhaul at Bath, who are also close to extending the contracts of England internationals Will Stuart and Sam Underhill.
