All Blacks ran Wales ragged

Beauden Barrett and Israel Dagg starred as the All Blacks romped to a 46-6 win over Wales on Saturday, according to SARugbymag.co.za’s Opta-powered stats.

The All Blacks had a field day in Dunedin as they made the most of a poor kicking display from Wales that gifted them possession and the opportunity to counter-attack from deep.

It enabled the All Blacks’ lethal runners to play with plenty of flair and freedom, none more so than Dagg, who produced a stunning performance from fullback. He completed a whopping 196m, made 13 passes, beat five defenders, completed four clean breaks and scored a breakaway try.

At flyhalf, Barrett was also in a class of his own, making 16 passes, 61m and beating four defenders. He also scored two tries in a masterclass performance that saw him contribute 26 points.

It was a complete team effort, though, with the All Blacks running 566m to Wales’ 193, beating 22 defenders to 11 and executing 12 clean breaks to three. The hosts also enjoyed 62% of possession, while Wales missed 22 tackles.
