Scarra Ntubeni has been released from the Bok squad in order to be able to gain some game time in the Currie Cup.
The Western Province hooker was released from the group that remained in Durban, with the Bok playing squad having travelled to Buenos Aires where they will face Argentina on Saturday.
‘Scarra has been working very hard in the last month or so and is familiar with how we play,’ Bok coach Heyneke Meyer commented. ‘After consultation with all relevant role players, we decided that it would be in his best interest to have some game-time in the Currie Cup.’
The Springboks were greeted by cold and wet weather when they arrived in Buenos Aires on Thursday, and will have their captain’s run at the Velez Sarsfield stadium on Friday.
‘We were not good enough last week and the Pumas deserve full credit for their performance,’ said Meyer. ‘Saturday’s Test will be a massive challenge and we simply have to fire on all cylinders.’
