1995 – vs France
The iconic 1995 semi-final against France was postponed by over an hour, as the drenched pitch at Kings Park was cleared of water. However, the game went ahead with Les Bleus controversially denied what seemed a late try by referee Derek Bevan.
1999 – vs Australia
In a battle of the boot between Jannie de Beer and the Wallabies’ Matt Burke, an epic semi-final at Twickenham was decided by a long-range drop goal.
2007 – vs Argentina
The semi-final between the Springboks and Argentina at the Stade de France delivered a comfortable victory for the eventual world champions, with tournament top try-scorer Bryan Habana bagging a brace.
2015 – vs New Zealand
The All Blacks picked up their third World Cup crown after a narrow victory over South Africa, despite the Boks taking a five-point lead into the break in what was a gripping encounter at Twickenham.
