Don’s double buries Falcons

Don Armand starred for the Exeter Chiefs in their 41-3 victory over the Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership.

The rampant Chiefs ran in six tries at Kingston Park. No 8 Don Armand scored two first-half tries for Exeter, who led 31-3 at the interval before adding 10 points in the second stanza while keeping the Falcons scoreless.

Meanwhile, a strong second-half performance lifted Saracens to a hard-fought 24-14 win over London Irish at Allianz Park.

The Exiles, who are yet to record a victory this season, went into the break 7-3 up against their city rivals, but Sarries dominated the second half, scoring two tries of which Owen Farrell converted one before adding three more penalties to hand the table-toppers another win.

Flyhalf Nick Evans nailed 10 out 10 kicks off the tee as Harlequins handed Bath a 38-28 defeat. Bath outscored the visitors three tries to two, but together with the two conversions, Evans slotted eight penalties as Quins earned only their second away win in 11 months.

Gloucester snuck past the Worcester Warriors 24-22 in an exciting clash on Saturday. Three unconverted tries and as many penalties were enough for Gloucester.

Flyhalf Danny Cipriani contributed 10 points as the Sale Sharks edged the Northampton Saints 20-13. His opposite number Stephen Myler accounted for all the Saints’ points with a converted try and two penalties.

Tonga's Telusa Veainu scored on debut for the Leicester Tigers, who overcame Wasps 24-16 at Welford Road in the final clash of round three. Wasps, who have not won at Welford Road since 2008, scored a late consolation try, giving some respectability to the scoreboard.
