Fiji cruise past Japan

Nemani Nadolo added 13 points as Fiji beat Japan 38-25, while there were also tier-two Test wins for Samoa, Romania and Germany.

Fiji recovered from last week’s defeat to England with a ruthless five-try display against the Brave Blossoms in France on Saturday. Nadolo scored a try, and was clinical from the kicking tee with five conversions and a penalty, while centre Botia Veivuke bagged a brace.

Five unanswered tries saw Fiji open up a commanding 35-6 lead early in second half, despite conceding a red card 30 minutes into the game. Japan launched a mini comeback with three tries of their own, but Nadolo rounded off the game with a late penalty.

In other results, lock Johan van Heerden scored one of five tries to guide Romania to a lopsided 36-10 win over Uruguay and Germany beat Brazil 36-14.

On Friday, wing DTH van der Merwe’s brace of tries weren’t enough for Canada, who slumped to 25-23 loss at the hands of Samoa.

Tier-two Test results:

Fiji 38 Japan 25
Romania 36 Uruguay 10
Germany 36 Brazil 14
Samoa 25 Canada 24
