Joburg to host Craven Week

Next year's U18 Craven Week and Academy Week tournaments will be held at St Stithians College in July.

The two U18 events will run concurrently at the prestigious school between 17 and 22 July, as the youth weeks return to Johannesburg for the first time in 11 years.

The U13 Craven Week and U16 Grant Khomo Week will be hosted simultaneously by Grey College in Bloemfontein from 10-14 July.

LSEN Week (Learners with Special Education Needs) will be played in Durban from 3 to 6 July, but the specific venue is yet to be announced. And similarly the other junior weeks, the U16 and U18 National Girls Weeks will be hosted at the North West Stadium in Welkom from 3 to 7 July.

Saru CEO Jurie Roux said hosting the U18 and junior boys weeks simultaneously at the same venue was successful in 2016: 'It worked well from a spectator and scouting perspective, while the players enjoyed it too. In line with this we opted to align the U16 and U18 National Girls Weeks as well next year, which we believe will boost these tournaments.

'This tweak will result in three consecutive festivals of rugby next season, which will be equally exciting for SA Rugby, the players and the spectators.'
