Jenkins heading to Japan

Bulls lock Jason Jenkins is set for a stint with Japanese club Toyota Verblitz after this Super Rugby season.

According to SuperSport.com, Jenkins will be joining the Jake White-coached club, who are also believed to have signed in-form Kings flyhalf Lionel Cronjé.

Jenkins will return to the Bulls ahead of next year's Super Rugby tournament, but it will leave the Pretoria-based side with depleted second-row stocks for the Currie Cup.

'The fact that he is going to Japan will also aid him in making a decision to extend his contract at the Bulls until after 2019, and we are hopeful we will come to an agreement in the near future,' Bulls high-performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg said.

'While we would have loved to have Jason with us for the Currie Cup season, we wish him well with this venture, and know that the experience he picks up abroad will contribute to making him a better player when he returns for Super Rugby next season.'
