The decision to sack Eddie Jones could come back to haunt England with the coach reportedly approached to help Wallabies coach Dave Rennie at France 2023.
The RFU officially gave Jones the boot on Tuesday, ending the Australian’s seven-year tenure in charge of England.
According to London’s Daily Mail, Jones is already a subject of inquiries about new job opportunities and had ‘a few’ early options to consider, one of them being a return to the Wallabies.

Reports Down Under have suggested that the 62-year-old is likely to be approached about working with the Wallabies again and it is thought that there already may have been informal contact.
A comeback win for the Aussies against Wales in Cardiff on their November tour relieved some of the pressure on Rennie, but it is understood his position remains tenuous, which could allow Rugby Australia to enforce a new management structure with Jones installed as a consultant.
Jones coached the Wallabies to a 2003 World Cup final defeat to the Roses, with whom he parted ways with a 73% win record, more than any other England coach. During his reign, the Roses reached the 2019 World Cup final and won three Six Nations titles, including a Grand Slam in 2016.
