Warren Gatland is reportedly in line to replace Eddie Jones as England boss if the Australian is axed with immediate effect.
According to London’s Daily Mail, Gatland is open to taking charge of the Roses on a caretaker basis should the England RFU pull the plug on the embattled Jones.
Gatland is also believed to be in line to return as Wales coach should Welsh rugby chiefs decide Wayne Pivac has to be replaced ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Wales Online said Gatland was the “leading contender” to come in on a short-term 12-month contract if officials decide Pivac can no longer remain after a woeful run of results.
It is understood that England are considering sacking Jones before next year’s World Cup, and according to Ruck.co.uk, the former Australia and Japan boss can expect to pocket a whopping £800,000 (R16,262-million) in a pay-out.
Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson has reportedly held talks with the RFU about succeeding Jones, whose job is under serious threat after a mixed year of results, with La Rochelle boss Ronan O’Gara also linked with the post.
