England’s decision to axe under-fire Eddie Jones before the 2023 Rugby World Cup will reportedly come at a hefty price.

According to Ruck.co.uk, Jones can expect to pocket a whopping £800,000 (R16, 262-million) in compensation should the England RFU show him the door with immediate effect.

It is understood that if he is fired, the former Australia and Japan boss will not be able to accept another coaching gig before next year’s global showpiece in France.

Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson has reportedly held talks with the RFU about succeeding Jones, whose job is under serious threat amid speculation about the departures of senior backroom staff.

Also, London’s Daily Mail has reported that RFU senior performance executive Conor O’Shea is privately canvassing England players for feedback after a mixed year of results.

England won five out of 12 Test matches in 2022, finished third overall in the Six Nations and were booed off the park after losing their final Test of the year to the Springboks.
