Vincent Koch, Trevor Nyakane, Jasper Wiese, Cobus Reinach, Cheslin Kolbe and Andre Esterhuizen are out of the squad, while Thomas du Toit, Ntuthuko Mchunu (both props), Marco van Staden (flanker), Johan Goosen (flyhalf), Grant Williams (scrumhalf) and fit-again Canan Moodie have been called in.
The changes to the squad will have Jacques Nienaber and Co. scratching their heads over a few positions. Wiese’s absence means that the No 8 jersey is up for grabs between Kwagga Smith and Evan Roos.
There is a call to be on the No 10 jersey and in midfield, as go-to goalkicker Cheslin Kolbe isn’t available, while Manie Libbok enjoyed a highly successful cameo off the bench against Italy.
Finally, there will be at least one change to the outside backs, with Makazole Mapimpi and Canan Moodie vying for the No 11 jersey.
