Springbok loose forward Nizaam Carr has been thrown a lifeline by Vodacom Bulls director of rugby Jake White, a man he says is “in my corner”, who jumped at the opportunity to bring the dynamic forward back to Loftus Versfeld.
Following the liquidation of his former club, Wasps, Carr is extremely grateful at the prospect of putting on the Bulls jersey again.
“I’m so lucky to have found work, it’s a real blessing to have people in my corner who I’ve worked with before, like Jake,” the 31-year-old said in a wide-ranging interview with Sports24. “Coming back was a no-brainer for me. I’m looking forward to what’s coming.”

Carr, eager to hit his straps as he prepares to experience the Vodacom United Rugby Championship for the first time, acknowledges what a great job White and the Bulls coaches have done in developing young talent.
“It’s a great time to be back,” he said. “When I came here initially, there were a lot of burgeoning youngsters who were making their way at senior level and even still played some junior rugby.
“Just over a year later, I’m suddenly teammates with a lot more Springboks. A lot of credit must go to the coaches for them identifying these talents.
“Jake is all about ownership. He wants to empower you. He can’t run on the field with you, which is why he wants to develop on-field leaders.”
