Sharks owner Marco Masotti has come out in support of Rassie Erasmus, calling for greater accountability from World Rugby around their Test referees.
Erasmus has come under fire as a sore loser for posting a spate of short videos on Twitter that clearly highlight inconsistencies in the officiating in the recent losses to Ireland and France.

The Springboks’ director of rugby has been called out by former Test referee Nigel Owens and former British & Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland, who has called on SA Rugby to rein in their director of rugby and for Erasmus to follow the proper channels.

Responding on social media to Owens’ comments, Masotti referred to referees as “amateur headmasters” in charge of “professionals”.
“Stop. Let us get this right World Rugby,” tweeted Masotti.
“The methodology of an amateur headmaster adjudicating professionals on the field does not work. Business interests and careers are on the line. Mistakes will be made but we need more process and accountability.”
