Mzwandile Stick says he hopes exciting halfback pair Grant Williams and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu can put their hands up for the Springboks with solid performances for the South Africa A side.
Williams and Feinberg-Mngomezulu will form a new-look halfback combination for SA A in the final midweek match on tour against Bristol Bears on Thursday.
Sharks scrumhalf Williams was excellent off the bench in last week’s loss to Munster, while Feinberg-Mngomezulu gets his first chance to show his mettle at this level after training with the Springboks.
“Both guys have been in the Springbok setup,” explained Stick. “They understand how we want to play. That’s the key thing with this combination.
“We were guilty last week in that we didn’t manage the game very well. Grant knows our philosophy, how we want to play situations and what it takes to be at the top.
“We know that Grant and Sacha have the X-factor. I will always encourage players to bring what makes them special. But the key thing for me is, especially when you play in the northern hemisphere, you need to play the conditions very well. That’s the biggest challenge for those two.

“The X-factor is always welcomed and I am excited to see what they can do. Grant has been with us at the Springboks and has been waiting for his opportunity. I was delighted to see him bring that impact last week. For Sacha as well, hopefully he will be in a position to be selected for the England game, the last Test match on tour.”
