Frans Steyn will play his first match for the Cheetahs since May when they clash with Emerging Ireland in a Toyota Challenge match in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Steyn, who returns from Test duty, is among three players with Springbok caps who will be starting for the Cheetahs.
Veteran scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar also starts after playing off the bench against the Vodacom Bulls XV, while Oupa Mohoje will play at No 8 in the place of the injured Roelof Smit.
