Lock Lood de Jager has been left out of the Cheetahs' 25-man squad for their Super Rugby match against the Sunwolves in Singapore on Saturday.
De Jager's exclusion is part of SA Rugby and the five Super Rugby franchises' agreement to rest Springbok players throughout the tournament.
Coach Franco Smith has named Reniel Hugo, Carl Wegner and Hilton Lobberts in the touring party as his second-row options.
The Cheetahs suffered back-to-back defeats in first two weeks of the competition and will be looking to secure their first victory of 2016 against the Sunwolves before returning home to face the Lions at Ellis Park.
