The Stormers will play some of their home games in Stellenbosch and Gqeberha during their Vodacom United Rugby Championship title defence this season.
Due to clashes with some pre-booked events at Cape Town Stadium, the Stormers will play three home games at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch and one at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
2022-23 URC fixtures: Stormers
The first two home games of the new season, against Connacht and Edinburgh on 24 September and 1 October, will be played in Stellenbosch due to the Justin Bieber concert to be held in Cape Town on 28 September, which will require significant construction in the stadium.
The round-nine clash with Dragons on 3 December will be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium due to preparations for the Cape Town Sevens, which takes place the following weekend.
The Stormers will also end the regular season against Benetton at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch on 21 April 2023, with the Monster Jam monster truck show taking place at Cape Town Stadium.
“While every effort was made to avoid these clashes, the events at Cape Town Stadium had been booked up to a year in advance, while the Vodacom United Rugby Championship fixtures could only be confirmed recently,” the Stormers said in a statement.
Last season, the Stormers also experienced conflicts with Cape Town Stadium and had to face Zebre at the Danie Craven in March, due to the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
All of Western Province’s 2023 Currie Cup home matches will take place at Cape Town Stadium.
