With the Springboks and Wallabies a week away from trading blows in the Rugby Championship, rewind to 2008 when Jongi Nokwe inspired South Africa to an eight-try victory at Ellis Park.
In a performance that would be remembered for years to come, Jongi Nokwe scored four tries in only his third Test appearance to help the Springboks claim a record 53-8 victory over the Wallabies.
Nokwe became the first Springbok to score four tries against the Wallabies in a Test match, a feat that has yet to be replicated by any South African.
The Wallabies came into the Tri-Nations clash on the back of a 27-15 win in Durban and took an early lead through Matt Giteau’s penalty. However, from there it was all Springboks as the South African pack overwhelmed the Wallabies, with Andries Bekker opening the scoring for South Africa, before Nokwe, Adrian Jacobs, Ruan Pienaar and Odwa Ndungane all ran in tries.
