Uncapped tighthead prop Fletcher Newell has replaced injured veteran Ofa Tu’ungafasi in the All Blacks squad for the upcoming two Tests against the world champion Springboks.
The 47-Test-capped Tu’ungafasi hurt his neck against Ireland in Wellington and will remain in New Zealand when the team travels to South Africa, the All Blacks confirmed on Tuesday.

Tu’ungafasi, who could recover in time to face Argentina in Christchurch next month, joins lock Brodie Retallick, centre Jack Goodhue and fellow Blues prop Nepo Laulala on the sidelines before the Kiwis’ trip to the Republic.
The 22-year-old Newell has been rewarded for his strong performances at Super Rugby level, as well as his strong showings for Canterbury at provincial level.
