Paarl Boys’ High and Paarl Gimnasium warmed up for next weekend’s derby with wins over central Cape opposition, while Affies had to work hard for victory in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday.
Paarl Gim welcomed back three stalwarts – flyhalf Liam Koen, centre PA van Niekerk and fullback Shaun Ray – as they claimed an impressive 57-26 victory over Bishops College.
Scrumhalf Emrique Liedeman and outside centre Janeil Losper scored two tries apiece as Gim hit top form ahead of the derby against Paarl Boys’ next weekend.

Boishaai will go into the derby full of confidence after claiming a solid 33-11 victory over SACS in Newlands.
In other notable results, Affies were made to sweat in the Premier Interschools derby against Maritzburg College, scoring twice in the last five minutes to seal a 29-12 victory.
Further north, Monument were involved in an 81-point thriller against Marais Viljoen from Alberton, with the Krugersdorp side triumphing 47-34.
