Italian side Zebre have confirmed the signing of former SA U20, Stormers and Sharks utility back Kobus van Wyk.
The 30-year-old joins the Vodacom United Rugby Championship outfit having been without a club since parting ways with Leicester Tigers in March.
Van Wyk, who made 18 appearances for Leicester since his debut in October 2020, agreed terms with the Tigers for an early release and returned to South Africa.
Prior to joining Tigers, he played in New Zealand for the Hurricanes, as well as in a short stint with French club Bordeaux-Bègles.
“I’m looking forward to starting next season,” he said after Zebre added him to a list of signings that includes Lorenzo Pani, Simone Gesi, Damiano Mazza, Ratko Jelic and Tiff Eden.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the Zebras family, wearing the club jersey, putting myself to the test in this new adventure and contributing to the growth of the team.”
